The origins

The origins of today’s Amphenol Precision Optics GmbH date back to 1972, when the company was founded as Euromicron Werkzeuge GmbH in Mittenaar-Offenbach in Hesse as a production facility for mechanical precision parts. From an early stage, the company was characterised by maximum precision and technical expertise in metal processing.

A decisive milestone followed in 1987, when the production of fibre optic components was started. This step marked the company’s entry into optical connection technology, which remains its core business to this day. Primarily, standard connectors of the LC and SC family were manufactured, which made Euromicron Werkzeuge the market leader for fibre optic connectors in Germany at the time. With the increasing demand for high-precision parts for fibre optic connections, the company developed into a highly specialised manufacturer in the photonics industry.

In 1997, the company was certified according to ISO 9001, a significant proof of the consistent quality orientation and the continuous optimisation of the production processes.

In 1998, the company was integrated into euromicron AG, a German technology company specialising in network solutions, security technology and telecommunications.

This led to the development of the URM connector system, a new standard for data centres, which still ensures fast connections in high-availability data centres in cooperation with sister companies of the Amphenol Group.

Another major step was taken in 2009: The company moved into a newly built production and administration centre in Sinn-Fleisbach. The modern site enables a significant expansion of capacity and more efficient production.

In February 2021, the next major change took place: the US Amphenol Corporation, based in Connecticut, took over the company and integrated it into the group structure, which now has around 130 companies and 120,000 employees worldwide. As part of this takeover, the company was officially renamed Amphenol Precision Optics GmbH in September 2021.

Today, Amphenol Precision Optics is one of the leading providers of fibre optic connection technology in Europe. The company specialises in the development and manufacture of high-precision components for optical fibres.

The company headquarters in Sinn-Fleisbach is ISO 9001:2015 certified and currently employs 55 people. More than 1,000 customers worldwide rely on components from Amphenol Precision Optics. Being part of the globally active Amphenol Corporation not only offers economic stability, but also access to a comprehensive international network of research, development and sales.
