Flat wire is often used in medical devices, to keep catheter cross sections or to optimize the attainable lumen size.
Other typical applications: safety wires or helix coils for guidewires. For enameling flat wire coating, Amphenol Precision Optics offers a tool with four adjustable basic segments, equipped with enameled stripping rollers and an extension spring adjusting the tool to the size of the flat wire.
The tool is manufactured in standard sizes with radii of 0.50 – 1.25 mm or chamfer (0.12/0.25/0.32/0.40/0.50) and lengths of 18 – 35 mm (other lengths, gradients, and depths on request).
